This has been another hard week, but it's had lot of good moments and we've
still seen a lot of miracles. I know that God loves us because even on the
hardest of weeks or the hardest of moments he still sends us miracles, and I
know that it's because of our faith that we are able to see that.
We saw Emma again and were able to have a really good lesson with
her. We were able to ask lots of questions and basically reset expectations with
her. It was truly a miracle because we've been praying and praying that we'd be
able to have a normal conversation with her, because she's got a lot on her
plate and usually takes up most of the time telling us about the things going on
in her life. It was really amazing because I could feel the spirit working
through us throughout the lesson. I was really able to feel it work through me
which was a tender mercy because I'd been losing a little bit of confidence in
my teaching skills.
After we saw Emma we went to John's baptism! It
was really awesome. His whole family was there and so was the spirit! Which
is awesome because I think that it was their real first experience with
members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Also we
had quite the experience on
Thursday. All our appointments cancelled! We got out of our
dinner appointment and were trying to figure out where to be, but both of us
needed to use the restroom. We didn't want to bug the member again and we were
by the place of a referral that we'd gotten. We decided to go and contact the
referral who had requested a bible. We knocked on her door and apparently she'd
already met with missionaries in the past! We set up a return appointment for a
bible study and hopefully we'll be able to teach her the discussions as well.
However we weren't able to use her restroom! So we decided to just go to the gas
station and use the restroom there. As I get out of the restroom Sister Larsen
is talking to this guy and she asks me about how to get to Topsey where the
animal safari is. So I tell him how to get there and then he starts to open up
about how he's looking for something to do because he feels like there are
things missing in his life. We were able to teach him about the book of Mormon
and place one with him! It was awesome! We even prayed in the middle of that
little gas station with him. We don't have a time to go and meet with him yet,
but we're hoping that we'll be able to soon.
We also had a really awesome lesson with a recently returning member named
James. He's been less active for 40 years! But he's been to church the past 3
Sundays and has been reading from the Book of Mormon. He's so awesome! We were
also able to take a sister out with us who had never gone out with the
missionaries before and she loved it! Now she wants to come out with us all the
time! It's really amazing and was an answer to our prayers.
Oh I forgot to to tell y'all that the mission is doing a Book of
Mormon challenge! It's called 10,000 hearts and homes. So each missionary
companionship is supposed to place 2 copies of the Book of Mormon each day for
65 days. It adds up to 10,000. At the same time we're reading the Book of Mormon
in those 65 days as well. So it's about 8 pages a day. We're already seeing lots
of miracles from it. It's definitely stretching us and we're already behind a
little. We're working on increasing our faith and humility to be lead to where
the Lord needs us so we can place these copies. I know we can do it!
It's just going to take a lot of hard work! The Lord never tells us to do
something that we can't! He loves all of His children so much! I know that
without a doubt! I know that the Book of Mormon in true! If you have a testimony of the Book of
Mormon and keep on studying it, your testimony will never falter. I know that
there is so much power that comes from reading its pages. I encourage you to
read it!
Love,
Sister Morrill
