This week had it's ups and downs, but it ended on an up and that's all that
matters. On Tuesday we were
blessed with multiple appointments and people who were willing to come out and
help us teach at those appointments. We've actually decided that it might be
best for the Elders that we split a ward with to teach Christopher from now on.
He's a single guy living by himself so it'll just be easier for the Elders to be
able to see him and work with him.
We were able to meet with one
of our more promising investigators named Emma. Her and her husband are in the
process of getting a divorce and are battling about the custody of their small
child. It's been rough on her, but she says that she's found a lot of comfort
from the Book of Mormon and has been trying to learn more about charity and
having love for others. Look at her trying to be alll Christlike! It was pretty
cool. What's even better is that she came to the ward's
Thanksgiving party on
Saturday and she also made it to
church! She loved both of them and was just very glad to get out of the house
and be around nice people. I'm glad that Emma is finding safety and joy in
church and the people there. Members of this church are really a light to the
world!
We were also able to meet with one of our YSA investigators
this week. His name is Hyde, and he's met with missionaries a lot. At this
lesson we just checked for understanding and for where he's at in his testimony.
We finally figured out that he doesn't quite believe that Joseph Smith was the
prophet who restored the gospel of Jesus Christ. So we invited him to pray about
it and to continue to read from the Book of Mormon. He said we would. He also
came to church
this Sunday! That
was pretty awesome. Hopefully he'll start making some real good progress soon,
we're just going to try to help him as much as we can a long the
way.
We also went on exchange with our sister training leaders this
week. It was so good! I went with Sister Twitchell up to Temple. We had a lot of
fun and learned quite a bit from each other. Sister Twitchell had just come from
serving in a YSA so she was able to give us some tips as to how we can build up
the branch more. I'm excited to start working on them!
So
this Sunday I was asked to give a talk
on something I am grateful for in the gospel. I think my first thought was the
atonement of Christ and the second was Christ's grace. I chose and felt prompted
to speak about both. I really am so grateful for those things! The atonement is
so powerful! Through it we are able to receive Christ's grace which gives us the
power to change and to become better! It's so amazing! I am so different from
the person I was when I started my mission, and I am so glad because that person
wouldn't be able to handle the things that I am being faced with now. It's all
because of Christ. He is truly a gift given to us from God. The church is
launching an initiative called "He is the Gift". It's all about Christ and the
true meaning of
Christmas. As
missionaries we get to go about sharing this with everyone we meet, and as
members all of you will be asked to share this as well. More information will be
coming out in the December ensign, please look for it!
I know that
this gospel is true. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer! What
greater message is there? Please remember that during this holiday season! Don't
be scared to share it! I love all of you!
