Let the Y'all begin!
Last P-day we had a zone activity and we all played games at the
stake center. It was pretty fun. After that we went and ate dinner with a couple
in the ward named the Phillipis. They're super awesome. They kind of remind me
of Rachel and Colby haha. They have a cute little son who is 5 months old. I
thought it wouldn't be too hard not being allowed to hold children out here, but
dang do I just want to pick them up and squeeze them sometimes.
We've been
teaching Daphne and her husband Josh the new member lessons. Daphne was just
baptized in January right before I got out here. Josh is her less active husband
who is starting to come to church more. They're both really great. Daphne is so
enthusiastic about sharing the gospel and keeps asking us for more Book of
Mormons cause she keeps passing all of ours out. Basically the new member
lessons are just all the discussions again, with more emphasis on like temple
work and the priesthood and serving others and stuff like that. It's really
cool. I love them so much. Josh is working really hard at becoming more active
in the church and it's been cool to see him progress.
On Wednesday we went and
taught Sarah Smart again. We talked to her about Baptism, the Holy Ghost, and
the law of Chastity. She can't decide whether she wants to marry her boyfriend
or kick him out. It's kind of funny, but understandable cause you can tell that
she really loves him. Just for whatever reason they haven't gotten married yet.
We're still working with her a lot. She didn't come to church this Sunday so we're going to have to
change her baptismal date. Oh we also got a new investigator named Delores. Her
friend brought her to church last week, then on Wednesday night we taught her
about the Restoration. She seems pretty interested. She came to church again
yesterday so we were way
excited. We'll see how she's feeling about things when we see her on Wednesday.
We were also able to do
service this week for a lady named Sherry. She's really sweet. She's just older
and needed help cleaning her apartment. She had a really nice cat that I played
with haha.
The thing I love most about Texas is how pet friendly they are.
Especially dog friendly! Like all the apartments I've been to so far allow pets.
It's awesome. I might move here just for that haha. The work is coming along
slowly but surely. We're trying to get members more involved because that really
opens the door to find more investigators. We recently had a missionary here
come home from the Provo, Utah mission and he said all of his success came from
members. He had a lot of success too. Members are key to missionary work. Don't
forget that. I'm leaving y'all with a challenge to just invite a non-member
friend or even a less active member over for dinner. Let them feel of the spirit
in your home. It'll work wonders. Build friendships so that maybe one day you
can finally share the good news that we have. Let me know what happens! I can
promise you that it'll be great, and that you'll grow closer to your Heavenly
Father and the Savior as well.
Love you lots!
