A week of Miracles and Ugly Ducklings

Turkey ducks??  Whatever these are, they're pretty odd looking!

Tuesday was like miracle day! It was awesome! First we found a panda express gift card for 15 dollars in the car. That was pretty sweet. But then we were out trying to contact a former investigator but she wasn't home. As we're going to the car I realized there was a house just a few feet down where Sister Tuna and I had contacted this guy who had recently returned from Afghanistan. We'd driven past this house a couple of times and every time we drove by I thought about him and felt like we should try contacting him again, even though I felt really awkward about it. So I tell Sister Larsen about it and she's like "Yeah! Let's go contact him." As we get closer to the house we're debating on what we should say to him, because the contact had been a little while ago and we didn't want to appear to be too weird. After a couple minutes of debating we finaly just pray and go knock on the door. His wife answers the door and we tell her who we are and she's like "What are you doing out here?! It's so cold! Here, come inside for a minute." Then she asks us a bunch of questions about the church and tells us that she doesn't like the church she is at and is looking for a new one. She was just so nice and sincere. It was really amazing. We're going to go back soon and see if we can't teach her more. She said she was open to it. It was such an answer to prayers. We've been struggling this whole week just to get people to talk to us and she was just so nice and open. It was amazing.
Then after that we went to teach Cathy. We asked her if she knew anyone who might be interested in the gospel and she told us that her step-sister Heather might be. Then Heather comes into the room and Cathy asks her right there if she wants to sit in on the next lesson and Heather is like "Oh yeah, that'd be great." Then Cathy gave her a Book of Mormon and Heather said she'd read the chapter that we were leaving with Cathy to read. It was way cool. She was so sincere about it! We actually found out later that Heather might be a member. We're in the process of looking up her records, but either way it's so awesome!
Another great experience we had this week was with a less active member who has just started coming back to church. Her name is Claire. We were planning on talking with her about temples and family history work and then when we walk into the lesson she pulls out her old recommend and is like "Yeah, I've been thinking about going back." It was so cool! She knows that there's probably some steps she's going to have to go through with the Bishop, but she's just so solid and knows what she wants to do. It was another little witness that Sister Larsen and I have been in tune with the spirit and following it's promptings. It was so amazing.
We taught some other really good lessons this week and met with a lot of amazing ward and branch members to discuss our goals for this coming year. It's going to be lots of hard work, but ultimately it will be so worth it. We do hard things in this mission, because we love our God. I'm so grateful to be here in the Texas Fort Worth mission. I'm so grateful for our mission president. I'm grateful for my testimony and how much it has grown. I'm grateful for my Savior and His atonement. I know that He truly did die for us and that He loves us and will help us out so much as we open ourselves up to Him and follow after Him. When you do that the feeling is just so indescribable! It's liberating. He truly came to preach liberty to the captives. I know that God is truly our loving Heavenly Father. I've witnessed that so many times throughout this week and throughout my entire mission. It's truly amazing!

Thanks for everything!
