Miracles!

This week was a roller coaster. Tuesday we had some awesome success. We had two surprise lessons with a member present so we were happy about that. We were also able to finally get in contact with a man who we had received as a referral quite a while ago. He and his family are having some rough times, their little daughter has some serious health issues and we're hoping to see him and his family again sometime this week.
Friday was a day full of miracles! So after dinner we weren't too sure where to go cause we had a couple of options. We decided to go see Lucy. So when we get there we knock on her door and she isn't home. So we get in the car and are just about to pull away when she shows up with her carpool from work! Then we proceed to have an awesome lesson with her. She told us that she gave a Book of Mormon out to someone at work! AND that she has quit smoking (or is at least smoking a lot less and weaning herself off of tobacco) AND that she said "No" to her boyfriend. It was awesome! She was so excited about her "victories". We then committed her to be baptized on August 30th. I'm so grateful for all the progress she is making and for the influence of the spirit in her life.

After that we went to see a less active but recently converted member. The whole ward has been trying to get in contact with her for the past two or three months. We were finally able to catch her at home. Sadly she wasn't too interested in the church anymore. She said she had some personal things going on but didn't really want to open up to us. BUT as we were walking down the street away from her apartment this lady stopped us on the street. Turns out that she is also a less active member who had recently moved into the area and who we had called to try and figure out where she lived. So we were able to get to know her a little better and share a lesson, while also figuring out where she lived. We were really excited about that.
So we continue to walk down to a set of apartments where we have quite a few potential investigators. As we're walking we see a couple named Kat and Fred who we've literally been trying to get in contact with for like a month. It was awesome, we were able to talk with them and share a lesson as well. Then after that we were also able to meet with another potential investigator named Jamie who also had been hard to get in contact with lately. And while all of this was happening Sister Lewis and I were able to be quite balanced during our lessons. It was awesome! I'm grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who was willing to guide our work so fully this day and that we were humble enough to listen and act on the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
The weekend got a little stressful though, but it was still good. Bobby and Mary were able to make it to church! It was so great! Sadly Lucy had to cancel for church. She'd had a rough night the day before and told us that she was resting. We're going to stop by today or tomorrow to check on her. We had to drop August 30th for a day to get baptized. However we were asking her what day SHE thinks she will be ready for baptism and she said September 16th, so now we're working towards that.
Heavenly Father truly has a hand in this work. He cares for all His children and ultimately wants them to make the right choices so they can return to Him. However we all have our agency, or the right to choose, and sadly not everyone chooses the plan of Happiness. I know though, that repentance is real, and that it is never too late to change and to align your will with God's. All our Heavenly Father wants is for us to be happy, and through His son, Jesus Christ, He has given us the way to do it. We just have to choose to do so. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. I love you all!
