Texas U-turns

Last picture with my district, trying to look cool.  :)

Hello everyone!

This week was really good. It was pretty up and down actually, Sister Booher's back is still really hurting. I feel like we made the best of it though.

On Friday we were able to see a lot of people. We saw a less active sister and two of our recent converts, as well as being able to teach a member present in one of our members home. The Brewer family is working with their neighbors and we were able to teach their 11 year old boy named Alex. He is really smart and respectful. We're making plans this week to go and talk to his parents to see if they might be interested, or at the very least if they'll let us teach Alex.

We also had a really cool experience where we were on our way to go and see a less active sister in the ward. Before we left we prayed that we'd be able to have missionary experiences on the way. As we were driving we saw a man walking on the service road pulling a wagon full of stuff.  He looked really hot and out of breath. As we drove by Sister Booher and I both remarked about how hard that must be. We had an unopened, cold water bottle in our car that Sister Booher had yet to take a drink from, so we decided that we should turn around and give him the water bottle and see if he'd be interested in a Book of Mormon. It took us a few minutes and we had to use the Texas U-turn, but we were able to catch up with him and give him he water bottle. He was also interested in the Book of Mormon and took it! It might not have been the best Book of Mormon contact, but he took it and hopefully he'll remember our kindness and take a look at it. So that has been neat to share with members to help them see that God really does help us if we pray for missionary opportunities and that even the missionaries need to pray to have missionary opportunities.

It's so strange, I really don't feel like I'm going home next week. I feel ready for it, but maybe that's just false bravado. I think it won't be too bad though, I just have to look for the positive things. (I definitely wouldn't have thought that 18 months ago.) I really love being a missionary though and I'm going to miss the people here. It's strange though, because it really doesn't feel like I'll be home next week. That's probably a good thing though.

I had the wonderful experience to be able to bear my testimony this last Sunday in Sacrament meeting. I know that Christ lives and he is there to help us bear our burdens. I know that God truly loves us and that he answers our prayers. I know that I am not forgotten by God, and that God never forgets His children. My mission has allowed me to more fully see this truth.

See y'all next week!

Love,

Sister Morrill
